PROGRAM LEADER REQUIREMENTS:

  • 18+ years of age

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Available August 14, 2024 - June 13, 2025

  • Commitment to assigned shift without conflict

    • ​2:30 - 6 PM (tentatively)

    • 3 - 6 PM (tentatively)

  • Passionate about youth aged 5-14

  • Strong instruction & facilitation skills

  • Strong group management skills

  • Clear background check & child abuse records
    English speaking proficiency

  • Able to teach a 4-13 week course in at least one non-academic enrichment skill:​​

PREFERRED:

  • 12 PM FRIDAY Availability - Newark Candidates Only 

  • 12 PM WEDNESDAY Availability - Paterson Candidates Only 

  • 1+ years of formal experience working with youth aged 5-14

  • Spanish Speaking Proficiency

  • American Sign Language

  • Culinary Arts

  • Fun/ Weird Science

  • Gardening

  • Martial Arts

  • Music Production/ DJing

  • Performing Arts

  • Photography/ Videography

  • Sports & Fitness

  • ETC.

Ideal Candidates

Are highly skilled and have formal classroom experience, a passion for working with inner-city youth, and 1+ year of instructional or related youth development experience.

General Qualifications

  • Eligible to work in the USA with children; clear fingerprinting, background, and Tuberculosis checks

  • Some post-secondary undergraduate or technical career study

  • Available to work the assigned work schedule without conflict

  • Experience with children in large group instructional, coaching, or camp settings

  • Love working with children; connection/passion for mentoring Newark/Paterson/inner-city youth

  • Strong classroom and group management skills

  • Excellent proactive planning, and organizational skills 

  • Ability to work collaboratively with district, program, parents, and community leaders

  • Effective communication with sensitivity to others and swift response to critically urgent incidents

  • Ability to professionally and positively give and receive feedback, implementing necessary changes

  • Compliance with the company, site, and/or school district/network policies protocols
